What interns have done
Our Interns Don’t Watch. They Lead.
This is not an internship where you sit in on meetings. Former NVEEE interns have run seminars, managed conferences and come back to mentor the next class of student leaders. Here is what that looked like.
“At NVEEE’s PALS conference in Orlando, I facilitated seminars on education and mental health and wellness.”
Taylor C., Yale University, Summer 2023 Intern
“This past year, I had the opportunity to serve as the assistant Program Director at one of the organization’s conferences.”
Nina, University of Miami, Program Development Intern
11 awards
In 2025, six former interns returned to PALS as college mentors and earned 11 awards at Georgetown University, the University of Central Florida and Florida International University.
Where you’ll do it
Three Ways In. Pick One, or All Three.
Summer · On campus
A Week at PALS
Spend a week of your summer at the Peace Ambassador Leadership Summit on a university campus, at Georgetown University, Duke University, the University of Central Florida or Florida State University. Summer interns can be selected as Senior Counselors and work side by side with high school students from morning sessions to the closing ceremony.
- Teach a workshop you designed with your committee
- Run icebreakers, team challenges and small-group discussions
- Help plan the schedule, then watch it run
- Celebrate your students at the closing ceremony
October–June · South Florida
Monthly PALP Sessions and Service Days
If you live in South Florida, join the Peace Ambassador Leadership Program in person. Deliver a workshop, help run a service day, and meet the student teams whose Community Impact projects you coach online.
- Lead an activity at a monthly session
- Work a service day alongside students
- Staff signature days such as Career & Mentoring Access Day and the Adulting Lab
- Cheer on student teams at the end-of-year Showcase
Every intern · Every term
Live, Online, From Anywhere
Some PALP students join sessions online, and you can be the one running their room. Every intern, in any term, can work with students online.
- Run a breakout room for students who join sessions online
- Lead a virtual workshop on a topic you know
- Coach a Community Impact team at its monthly check-in
- Give written feedback on résumés, essays and scholarship applications
- Help run group mock interview practice
All work with students happens in group sessions supervised by NVEEE staff, or as written feedback. Interns never meet with students one-on-one.

Bring Your Major
Data and research: turn PALS and PALP survey results into charts that show what students learned.
Education, psychology, social work: lead the study-skills and college-planning sessions students ask for most.
Business and nonprofit: coach a team through the funding pitch for its service project.
Marketing and design: help students turn a cause into a flyer, a post and a press release.
Public health: connect students and families with trusted mental health resources.
Technology and AI: show students the tools that keep a real project organized.

From Idea to a Room Full of Students
1
Raise your hand
Tell your supervisor early in the term. We match you to sessions that fit your schedule and where you live.
2
Build it with staff
Plan your workshop or activity with your committee. NVEEE staff review it and help you get it right.
3
Deliver and debrief
Run it, then talk through what worked. We can document your hours for service-learning or practicum requirements.
