Apply to the NVEEE College Internship Program

Who Should Apply

  • Undergraduate students (rising sophomores or above) and graduate students. First-year students are welcome if they previously took part in PALS or PALP.
  • All majors are welcome, and there is no GPA requirement.
  • International students are welcome, as the internship is fully remote.
  • Applicants need reliable internet, a working computer, and the ability to join Zoom meetings.
  • Some subcommittees require prior experience: graphic design for Social Media Content Creation and Creative Services; WordPress, Elementor, and HTML for Website Development & Maintenance.

We look for interns who communicate clearly, manage their time independently, and care about young people’s well-being and leadership. Prior leadership in clubs, service, or student organizations is a plus but not required.

How to Apply & Deadlines

  1. Submit the online application and upload your résumé. You will rank your committee and subcommittee preferences.
  2. Interview. Selected applicants are invited to schedule a Zoom interview of up to 45 minutes. Please review Prepare for the Interview before you schedule.
  3. Decision. Applicants are notified of an offer, waitlist, or decline. Accepted applicants have 7 days to accept an offer.
  4. Orientation. Accepted interns complete onboarding and join their committee.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and interviews and offers are made as applications arrive. Deadlines follow the same pattern every year:

Frequently Asked Questions

No. All NVEEE internships are unpaid. Academic credit may be arranged through your institution.

There are five committees: Program Development & Youth Engagement, Community Outreach & Engagement, Marketing & Communications, Fundraising, Sponsorships & Grants, and Administrative & Operational Support. Each has specialized subcommittees, including AI Tools & Digital Innovation. See Committees & Subcommittees.

You rank your preferences on the application. Placement considers your interests, skills, and each committee’s needs.

Yes. Each intern has one primary committee and may opt into a secondary committee.

Not for most subcommittees. Interest and willingness to learn matter most, and training is provided. Three subcommittees require prior experience: Social Media Content Creation and Creative Services require graphic design experience, and Website Development & Maintenance requires WordPress, Elementor, and HTML experience.

You set your own schedule between 9 AM and 8 PM Eastern, Monday through Friday; weekend hours need approval in advance. Plan for 25 to 40 hours a week (a 20-hour week is available when your college or university requires 20 hours for credit). The only fixed commitments are the weekly All-Team Meeting and your weekly committee meeting. For a typical shift, the weekly meetings, Zoom time and the time-off policy, see A Day in the Life of an NVEEE Intern.

No. Leadership roles are optional and open to interns who want more responsibility.

Yes, if your school approves it. NVEEE provides the documentation your school requires.

Yes. The internship is remote, and interns may also take part in experiential learning: in person at the Peace Ambassador Leadership Summit (PALS) on our university campuses in the summer, at monthly PALP sessions in South Florida, or virtually by supporting students in supervised group sessions and delivering workshops. See Experiential Learning.
