Recognition at every stage
Stage 1
During your internship
- Semester awards and Intern of the Month.
- Credit for your work: bylines on blog posts; designs and research credited to you.
- Leadership titles: optional Chair, Co-Chair and Secretary roles appear on your certificate.
- Signature projects: interns who help build them are often invited to take part.
Throughout the year
Tokens of Gratitude
Handwritten cards, self-care and skincare kits and other small gifts. Interns who serve in person at PALS put in long days with our students and staff, and they receive additional acknowledgments and gifts for going the extra mile.
Stage 2
When you finish
- Certificate of completion listing your committee, hours and major projects.
- LinkedIn recommendation from your supervisor, for standout interns.
- Celebration: interns who serve in person at PALS join our closing banquet.
Stage 3
Long after your internship
- Letters of recommendation on request for interns who complete the internship successfully, for jobs, graduate school, law school and scholarships.
- Scholarship help and award nominations.
- Mentorship from the Executive Director and NVEEE staff.
- Care packages, the LinkedIn alumni group and newsletter.
- Invitations back as an intern, volunteer or PALS college mentor.
Semester Awards
Presented at the end of every fall, spring and summer term.
01
Intern of the Month
One intern each month for outstanding work.
02
Outstanding Intern of the Semester
The intern whose work, reliability and professionalism stood out most across the term.
03
Committee Excellence Award
One intern per committee whose contributions moved that committee’s work forward.
04
Leadership in Service Award
A Committee Chair, Co-Chair or Secretary who kept the team organized and supported their peers.
05
Above and Beyond Award
An intern who took on extra responsibility, such as in-person PALS support or event help.
06
Rising Star Award
A first-term intern who showed exceptional growth.
07
Creative Impact Award
An intern whose exemplary design, video, writing or web work advanced NVEEE’s mission.
2022–2024
President’s Volunteer Service Award
As a certifying organization, NVEEE awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to our interns for the service hours they gave from 2022 through 2024, many of them in more than one year.
Currently on hold. AmeriCorps paused the PVSA program nationally in 2025, so NVEEE is not certifying new awards at this time. We will resume for eligible interns if the program returns.
