Support the Systems That Make Everything Else Work.

This committee helps keep National Voices for Equality, Education, and Enlightenment (NVEEE) organized, efficient, and ready to grow. Interns support nonprofit operations, manage documents and data, help track projects and meetings, help keep internal communication and processes running smoothly, plan logistics for programs and events, support the team’s technology, and help NVEEE use AI tools and digital innovation responsibly.

Policies, procedures, and budgets are set by NVEEE leadership. Interns work under the supervision of NVEEE staff and the Executive Director, gain hands-on experience maintaining and applying these systems, and are encouraged to share recommendations with staff.

Types of projects interns work on

Examples from work interns have done across NVEEE.

  • Organize NVEEE’s shared drive, document naming, and file systems.
  • Help track cross-committee projects, tasks, and deadlines in Asana.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and track action items.
  • Clean up and organize data, such as registrations, contacts, and service hour records.
  • Update procedures and how-to guides as processes change.
  • Build automations that connect forms, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Test AI tools and share recommendations for using them responsibly.
  • Plan logistics for programs, meetings, and events.
  • Manage registrations, forms, and communications with participants and families.
  • Help run intern onboarding and offboarding, including access setup and checklists.

Have an idea? Propose your own project.

You do not have to wait to be assigned work. Interns are welcome to propose a project, and we will develop it together.

Supporting the students in our programs

High school students in NVEEE’s year-round leadership program spend the year building résumés, applying for scholarships and awards, and leading six-month service projects. They need college students behind them. Here is how this committee helps.

  • Help track students’ verified service hours and achievement records.
  • Build sign-up forms, trackers, and reminders that help student teams stay on schedule.
  • Teach students practical tools, such as Google Docs, spreadsheets, and shared calendars, to organize their projects.
  • Help lead workshops on life skills, such as personal budgeting, time management, and staying organized.
  • Help maintain the NVEEE Empowerment & Success Hub so students can find templates and toolkits when they need them.

Subcommittees

Each committee divides its work into subcommittees. Here is what each one does, week to week.

Operational Support

You help NVEEE’s existing processes run smoothly by keeping documentation current, tracking cross-committee work, and sharing what you observe with staff.

What you’ll do

  • Help keep NVEEE’s written procedures and how-to guides current by updating steps, links, and formatting when staff revise a process.
  • Map how work moves between committees, note where it slows down, and share recommendations with staff.
  • Help track cross-committee timelines, owners, and deadlines in Asana.
  • Help maintain trackers in Google Sheets, such as task status, deadlines, and committee rosters.
  • Help maintain the handbook for interns, staff, and volunteers.
  • Help keep intern forms current, such as absence requests and academic credit documentation.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices for the next team.

Skills you’ll build: process documentation, project tracking, spreadsheet organization, and attention to detail. These skills carry into operations management, human resources, project management, and nonprofit administration.

Logistics Planning & Strategy

You help plan the logistics for NVEEE’s programs, meetings, and events, all from home.

What you’ll do

  • Help plan space, transportation, meals, and supplies for programs, meetings, and events.
  • Coordinate with universities, venues, and vendors, and track every confirmation.
  • Help plan housing, dining, and room assignments for residential programs such as the summer leadership summits.
  • Track dietary, accessibility, and safety needs, and share them with the right people.
  • Help coordinate staff and volunteer roles and schedules.
  • Prepare arrival-day plans, check-in procedures, and supply checklists for on-site teams.
  • Write a short review after each program or event of what went well and what to change.

Skills you’ll build: logistics planning, vendor coordination, scheduling, and problem solving. These skills carry into event management, hospitality, operations, and supply chain careers.

General Administrative Support

You keep NVEEE’s documents, records, meetings, and internal communication organized and accurate.

What you’ll do

  • Organize shared files, folders, and document naming in Google Drive so everyone can find what they need.
  • Help maintain registration lists and participant records, including payment status.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
  • Send scheduled emails and reminders to participants, families, and the team.
  • Track consent forms, release forms, and service hour forms for students under 18.
  • Manage shared inboxes, calendars, and email templates.
  • Help keep committee assignments and due dates current in Asana.

Skills you’ll build: document management, records management, meeting support, internal communication, and organization. These skills carry into administration, healthcare administration, education, and law.

Digital Transformation & IT Support

You help keep NVEEE’s tools and data organized and working for the whole team.

What you’ll do

  • Move forms and records between platforms, such as from Formstack to Jotform, and connect them to tracking sheets.
  • Give new interns access to Slack, Google Drive, Asana, and Canva, and remove access when they leave.
  • Clean up and organize data, such as contact lists and registration records.
  • Troubleshoot tool problems and write short how-to guides and screen-recorded tutorials.
  • Help review and reorganize the NVEEE Education Hub so students can find resources easily.
  • Help set up email labels, shared inboxes, and team calendars.
  • Research software that could help the team manage projects and data.

Skills you’ll build: technical troubleshooting, systems organization, data management, documentation, and software evaluation. These skills carry into information technology, operations, project management, and business analysis.

AI Tools & Digital Innovation

You help NVEEE use AI and digital tools responsibly to save time, improve quality, and support every part of the organization. This is a full area of internship experience: you will research, test, build, document, and teach.

What you’ll do

  • Use AI tools to support research, such as summarizing sources, comparing programs, and organizing findings, and verify every fact against the original source.
  • Map digital workflows across NVEEE and identify steps that automation could handle, such as confirmations, reminders, and routing applications.
  • Build and document automations with tools such as Zapier and Jotform, and fix them when they stop working.
  • Help develop AI-assisted content workflows with the Marketing & Communications committee, with human review before anything is published.
  • Research responsible AI practices on accuracy, privacy, bias, and originality, and share recommendations with staff for NVEEE’s AI guidelines.
  • Test new AI and digital tools, compare costs, benefits, and privacy considerations, and recommend options.
  • Create guides and short trainings that help staff and interns use AI tools well, and report what saved time.

Skills you’ll build: AI literacy, prompt writing, workflow automation, process mapping, data privacy awareness, and technical writing. These skills carry into technology, operations, data analysis, consulting, and any field that is adopting AI.
