LGBT Liaison
The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) liaison team provides support for victims of domestic violence, discrimination, harassment and hate crimes due to their gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and sexual identity. Additionally, the liaison team provides diversity management and strives to resolve any issues relevant to said discrimination. Their goal is to ensure LGBT people are treated with respect, and as such NVEEE provides an environment which supports and nurtures diversity.
This team participates in outreach efforts to school clubs, including gay-straight alliances, and local and national organizations in order to foster a community of unity and equality.
Some of the activities a liaison is expected to attend include but are not limited to:
- Pride Fest
- Workshops
- Fundraisers
- Conferences
- Candlelight Vigils
- Town Hall Meetings
- Gay Straight Alliance Meetings
As a part of NVEEE’s ongoing community outreach efforts, the LGBT liaison works closely with partner agencies to provide referral services, and to promote peace, advocacy, and acceptance of members of the LGBT community. Some of the agencies are included in the below:
